Change is in the air, Alaska! If you’ve been following the Arctic Trekking, LLC journey, you know we’ve spent plenty of miles traversing the roads around Fort Greely and Delta Junction. But as the saying goes, "The only constant is change", and sometimes that change involves a moving truck, a lot of bubble wrap, and a new zip code.
We are officially packing up the stamps, the logs, and the emergency ink pads and heading to Wasilla!
Moving a business is always a whirlwind, but moving a notary business? That comes with its own special flavor of paperwork. It’s not just about updating your Google Maps listing (though that’s a chore in itself). There are rules, deadlines, and a few quirky legal ironies that only a notary could love.
Whether you're a fellow notary looking to relocate or a client wondering if we can still help you with your acknowledgements and jurats, here’s the lowdown on how we’re taking Arctic Trekking, LLC to the Mat-Su Valley.
The 30-Day Sprint: Notifying the Lieutenant Governor
When most people move, they tell the post office and hope their junk mail finds them. When a notary moves, we have a very important date with the Alaska Lieutenant Governor’s office.
According to Alaska Statute (specifically AS 44.50.066(a) for those of you who like the heavy reading), a notary public must report any change to their mailing address, physical residence, or contact information within 30 days.
That’s right, the clock starts ticking the moment we drop the first box in Wasilla. If we miss that window, we risk our commission being suspended or revoked. And since we pride ourselves on being there for your emergency and same-day appointments, being sidelined by a paperwork delay is not an option.

The process involves filing a "Name and Address Change Form." For a standard address change, it’s a relatively straightforward notification process. However, the Lieutenant Governor’s office needs to know exactly where we are so they can keep the state’s notary directory accurate. It’s all about transparency and making sure the people of Alaska can verify that their notary is legitimate and reachable.
The Notary’s Paradox: I Need a Different Notary!
Here is where things get a little ironic. You’d think that being a notary would make filing legal documents easier, right? I have the seal, I have the ink, I have the knowledge.
But there is one golden rule in the notary world: You cannot notarize your own documents.
It doesn't matter if it’s the "Name and Address Change Form" (if a name change is involved requiring an oath) or other official business relocation documents, I can’t just stamp my own signature and call it a day. That would be a major conflict of interest. A notary is meant to be an impartial witness. It’s a bit hard to be impartial about yourself!
So, even as the owner of Arctic Trekking, LLC, I have to go find another notary to witness my signature. It’s a great reminder of why the service we provide is so vital. Even the professionals need a trusted third party to keep things official.

"Where Can You Work?" (The Great Alaska Border)
We often get asked, "Can you come help me while I'm on vacation in Seattle?" or "I'm moving to Hawaii, can you notarize my papers there?"
The short answer: No. (But I’d love a trip to Hawaii!)
A notary commission is state-specific. My commission is issued by the State of Alaska, which means my "jurisdiction" ends exactly where the Alaska state line does. I can travel anywhere within the state, from the North Slope to the Panhandle, but the moment I cross into another state, my seal is just a fancy paperweight.
However, there is a silver lining! We are expanding our services to include Remote Online Notary (RON). This allows us to serve clients nationwide through secure audio-video technology. While I physically remain in the great state of Alaska (specifically Wasilla now!), I can notarize documents for you no matter where you are in the world, as long as the legal requirements for RON are met.
Whether you need a loan signing or a quick affirmation, the digital world has made the "Alaska-only" rule a bit more flexible for our clients.
New Beginnings in Wasilla and Beyond
We are so excited to bring our mobile notary services to Wasilla and the surrounding communities. We know how busy life can get in the Mat-Su Valley. Whether you’re a busy professional, a business owner, or someone living in a more remote area who doesn't want to drive into town for a signature, we’re coming to you.

Our core mission remains the same: convenience, reliability, and 24/7 phone support. We specialize in those urgent, "oh no, I forgot I needed this notarized" moments.
Disclaimer: By law, a military ID cannot be copied for any reason. We see a lot of military families (shoutout to our friends at Fort Greely and those now closer to JBER!), and it’s important to remember that while we can view your military ID for identification purposes, we cannot make a photocopy of it for our records or yours.

Shoutout to the "Silent Partners"
You might wonder how a mobile notary keeps everything so organized while moving across the state. Well, I have to give a nod to my "Silent Partners": the AI tools that help me manage schedules, draft blog posts like this one, and keep the gears turning while I’m busy loading boxes. It’s the perfect blend of high-tech efficiency and that personal, Alaskan touch.
We’re also proud to be Powered by Marblism, which helps us stay at the forefront of digital presence so you can always find us when you need us most.
